As part of Bupa's ongoing commitment to its care homes, River Court has recently completed a £330,000 refurbishment programme.

River Court has been carefully designed and refurbished to provide a pleasant, comfortable environment, which is well equipped for elderly people. Comprising of four houses, each offers specialist care - one for nursing care, one residential care, one for dementia nursing care and the fourth for residential dementia care.

Each of the 120 en suite bedrooms has been refurbished with co-ordinating soft furnishings to provide a warm, homely environment. Rooms are equipped with a telephone and aerial point, thermostatic radiators, smoke detectors and a 24-hour nurse call system. All houses include a well furnished lounge, conservatory and dining room, which have also been tastefully redecorated and which provide relaxing meeting areas for residents and their guests. Each house has its own secure garden with various seating areas for residents to use in warmer weather and a sensory garden to explore.

River Court has its own activities organiser to ensure there is always something enjoyable to do. Everything from reminiscence and sign-a-long to bingo, to garden walks and local trips. Residents are encouraged to pursue their own hobbies and interests and can benefit from using the mobile library and on-site hairdressing salon.

Above all, each resident is treated as an individual, and able to exercise choice in all aspects of their care. We encourage as full and active a lifestyle as possible, with rules and regulations kept to minimum, and visitors are welcome at any time.

Each resident has their own regularly updated care plan. Additional services such as speech therapy or physiotherapy can always be arranged, as can opticians and dentists appointments.

All rooms have television points and safety features such as smoke detectors and 24-hour nurse-call systems. Residents are welcome to bring personal belongings and small items of furniture, and pets are allowed in some homes.

Each home has an activities organiser to provide stimulating and interesting activities, taking account of residents' interests. There is always a varied menu of fresh, nutritious food, but special dietary or cultural needs will always be catered for.

Directions

Leave the M25 at junction 20 and take the A41 towards Watford. At the traffic lights continue straight ahead to the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A411 Hempstead Road. At the next large roundabout follow the signs to the right for Rickmansworth A412. Turn left into Hagden Lane. Take the right fork through the traffic lights, then turn right at the mini roundabout into Tolpits Lane. Take the first left into Scammel Way. Turn first left again into Explorer Drive.
